For two decades, Glenn Smith has been one of the game’s most astute player evaluators in football. He began his career at the University of Oklahoma working under highly decorated coaches, Gary Gibbs and Barry Switzer. That latter experience would forge a strong bond with Switzer that made him a valuable member of the Sooners staff.
That success at the college level led to a new opportunity in 1996 when Switzer was named the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. In his new NFL role, Smith worked as an assistant coach and in the personnel office evaluating young players for his mentor. As a testament to his skills as a talent evaluator at the NFL level, Smith also worked with Switzer’s successors in Dallas, Chan Gailey. Needless to say, the experience working under a trio of outstanding coaches has made him an expert in player evaluations. He’s also served as a football analyst for Yahoo Sports and ESPN radio affiliates.
