Nick Athan – Vice President Media Relations

The game of football runs deep in the heart of Nick Athan. Growing up a Kansas City Chiefs fan, he had a unique perspective as a young fan of the old AFL. Learning the game from NFL Hall of Famers, Hank Stram, Bobby Bell and Len Dawson, he always knew he’d find a path into professional football.

Though playing the game didn’t materialize, he’s spent 25 years as a journalist covering the game he loves. For 13 years, he was the Publisher of Warpaint Illustrated.com covering the Kansas City Chiefs for Fox Sports and Scout.com. In addition, Mr. Athan spent five years as Managing Editor of Fanstop.com presiding over a staff of 80 writers. He also served as the Kansas City Chiefs Beat Writer for Chiefs Digest, Pro Football Scoop and in the early years of Pro Football Talk, where he was a contributing columnist.

In television, he served eight years as the primary Kansas City Chiefs analyst for NBC affiliate, KSHBTV-41 and five years and 38 the Sports Spot in Kansas City. In addition, he was a guest NFL analyst for Metro Sports and Time Warner Cable Sports Channel in Kansas City and nationally for the NFL Network. He also hosted the ‘Dustin and D-Bowe’ radio show featuring Kansas City Chiefs players Dustin Colquitt and Dwayne Bowe on the Kansas City Chiefs flagship radio station, KCFX 101 the Fox. He’s also served as an NFL radio analyst for JT The Brick, ESPN Radio, Fox Sports Radio, Yahoo Sports, NFL Sirius Radio, Scout Fantasy and numerous radio stations around the country.

Off the field, Mr. Athan currently serves as Vice President of Higher Ground, a foundation dedicated to educating underprivileged children from the urban core in Kansas City.
