As a wide receiver at the University of Kansas, Quintin Smith, a Two-Time All American Conference Performer, became one of the most prolific pass catchers in the history of the program. In 1988, against the University of Louisville Cardinals, Smith gained 221 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns for the Jayhawks. After receiving his Bachelors Degree in 1990, he signed a contract with the Chicago Bears. Though he signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent, he played three seasons for the NFC team.
Once his playing days ended, he spent the next seven years as a scout for the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. Wanting to do more with the young athletes he’d been scouting, Smith turned to coaching athletes. In 2000, he became the General Manager and Director of Player Personnel for the Chicago Enforcers of the XFL. Since then he’s built a steady career as a scout for the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers and most recently as a position coach at Norfolk State University.
