Rodney Knox brings over 25 years of experience in Integrated Marketing Communications, Brand Management as well as extensive public relations skills to Major League Football. He’s successfully transitioned a career from the NFL to Corporate America that gives him a unique edge on the business side of professional sports.
Knox served as the Sr. Director of Communications & Marketing for the San Francisco 49ers. In that role, Knox managed the majority of the team’s brand identity departments, including Public Relations, Community Relations and Sponsorships. During his time with the Niners, the team claimed four World Championships, produced five NFL Hall of Fame players and a Hall of Fame head coach. Prior to his tenure with San Francisco, Knox was Public Relations Assistant Director with the San Diego Chargers.
In recent years, Knox had served as Director of Communications for Team Sports (football, basketball and baseball) for Nike, Inc. from 2003-2009; and Running Division (2009-2013). At Nike, Knox was responsible for overseeing the company’s multi-media product launch campaigns for athletes including LeBron James, Adrian Peterson, and Allyson Felix. He worked closely with Nike’s executive staff on communications plans targeting the media and consumers.
