As a two-time first-team All-Pac-10 quarterback from the University of Oregon, Chris Miller held 13 school records that catapulted him from the college ranks to the 13th overall pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1987. He played ten seasons in the NFL; his best year came in 1991, when he threw for over 3000 yards and 26 touchdowns that culminated with a trip to the Pro Bowl. To date, his 14,066 passing yards and 87 passing touchdowns both rank third in Falcons’ franchise history.
After his playing days ended, he turned to coaching. In 2001, he began the first of two stints as the Head Coach at South Eugene High School: South Eugene had 11 consecutive losing seasons before Miller came on board and turned the program around. In 2003, he was named the Oregon Coach of the Year; in 2005, Miller was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame for having made a significant contribution to sports in the state.
In 2009, Miller began a four-year stint as the Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Coach. The jump from high school to the NFL proved a good fit for Miller and his pupil, former NFL great and MVP Kurt Warner. However in 2012, the calling to return to his roots brought him back to the high school level and he once again turned the Axemen of South Eugene into a winning football program.
